Using SKUs

Your own short code for each item. Optional, but it makes eBay matching automatic.

Guide 2 min

A SKU is a short code you give an item, like HRM-0201. Hermes doesn't require one, but they help:

  • Find things fast: search by SKU on the Items page.
  • Automatic eBay matching: if an item's SKU is the same as the custom label (SKU) on its eBay listing, Hermes links them on its own. Sales then mark the right item sold with no clicking.
  • Labels: write the SKU on the bag, box, or tag so you can match the physical item to Hermes.

Rules

  • Each SKU can only be used on one of your items.
  • Upper and lower case matter to eBay, so keep them consistent.
  • Importing a spreadsheet skips rows whose SKU you already have, so you can import the same file twice safely.
